Below is a list of MCA regulations and official documents which are relevant to superyacht training and certification.

Yacht restricted certification (Yachts Less Than 3,000GT)

MSN 1858 - Training and Certification Guidance: UK Requirements for Deck Officers on Large Yachts (over 24m)
This is the main document that defines the certification structure and requirements for OOW, Chief Mate and Master on yachts less than 3,000GT.

Training Record Book for yacht ratings and yacht officers
Those who have obtained all or some of their yacht service on yachts under 24m need to complete this training record book.

MSF 4343 - Notice of Eligibility (NoE) application form
This is the form to be used to book an MCA oral exam leading to a yacht certificate.

Unlimited certification

MGN 92 - Certificates of Competency: Training and Certification - Unlimited Deck Officers
This is the main document that defines the certification structure and requirements for Unlimited OOW, Chief Mate and Master Mariner.

MIN 498 - Using yacht sea service towards unlimited merchant navy applications
This document lays out how sea service obtained on yachts counts towards unlimited certificates of competency. It also contains the relevant sea service record templates.

MSF 4274 - Notice of Eligibility (NoE) application form
This is the form to be used to book an MCA oral exam leading to an unlimited officer certificate.

MIN 455 - Human Element, Leadership and Management (HELM) training
This document lays out which level of HELM training officers have to undertake.

MSN 1865 - UK requirements for emergency, occupational safety, security, medical care and survival functions
This document describes in detail the new five-yearly updating requirements for STCW basic and advanced safety courses (coming into force on 1 January 2017).

MIN 480 - New Requirements for Security training
This document defines the new requirements for ISPS security training (coming into force on 1 July 2015).

MIN 435 - Clarification of Dyslexia Policy
This document explains the examination and assessment procedures for candidates with proven dyslexia.

List of ENG1 approved doctors (UK based)
UK-based MCA-approved doctors (ADs) who are able to carry out ENG1 medical examinations.

List of ENG1 approved doctors (international)
Non UK-based MCA-approved doctors (ADs) who are able to carry out ENG1 medical examinations.
