About this course
The course aims to teach daytime navigation in coastal waters using ribs, and teaches students how to plan a day cruise using a mixture of traditional navigation means and GPS navigation, including the use of chart plotters. Tidal heights calculations, buoyage and pilotage, along with boat preparation, weather, boat handling, including man overboard, and passage marking are also covered during the course.
An RYA Powerboat Level 2 (with coastal endorsement) is a prerequisite, but it is also recommended that candidates hold a first aid and VHF certificate. Candidates should also revise the following collision regulations: 5, 7, 8, 9, 13-17, 23, prior to starting the course.
