Survival craft facilities

Pier headWe operate a number of survival craft and different launching scenarios to meet international safety training standards. These are located on our purpose built pier head facility and floating pontoons.

We utilise a pool facility for STCW Personal Survival Techniques (PST) ‘in water’ tuition, followed by practical exercises using a variety of life rafts and survival equipment.

The launch and recovery of survival craft including lifeboats, fast rescue boats and RIBs takes place on our pier head facility which has a range of lifting equipment (davits) for the launch of lifeboats. Our training vessels include two open lifeboats for practical aspects of our safety training courses. A six-metre fast rescue boat is launched from the our own slipway located on the bank of the river and used during the proficiency in fast rescue boat courses.

Attached to the pier is a walkway to a floating pontoon which is used for exercises involving throw-over type life rafts.
