BSc Marine Operations Management students at Warsash Maritime Academy faced a panel of senior figures from industry as part of an assessment in a unit on Maritime Technology.
Six teams of students were assigned to go through a tendering process to win a contract in ergonomic ship design. Each team was required to prepare a bridge design for a ship of their choice and then present their proposals to the external panel acting as the shipping company’s CEO and board of company executives on Wednesday 7 November. The students are currently undertaking an 11 week training programme at Warsash, towards an Honours Degree.

Nick Jeffrey, General Manager - UK Towage Operations at Solent Towage (UK subsidiary of Ostensjo Rederi AS)
Martin King, Port of Southampton Marine Pilot - Associated British Ports

Gordon Meadow, Senior Lecturer at WMA is behind the assessment and sat on the panel, said, “The standard of the work and presentations were excellent, and really impressed our panel of external experts. Congratulations to the winners and well done to all the students who took part. Thank you to our guests for assessing the presentations; it was an invaluable learning experience for our students.”
