One month to go - HELM training will be mandatory after 31 August

classroom-trainingAs mentioned in a previous news article, Human Element, Leadership and Management (HELM) training will become mandatory for those having a new Certificate of Competency (CoC) issued after 31 August. The Marine Information Notice (MIN) 455 requires you to complete the following HELM courses if you have applied for a MCA Yacht Certificate of Competency (CoC) that will be issued after 31 August:
  • OOW (Yachts less than 3,000GT) / Y4 and Y3: HELM(O)
  • Master and Chief Mate (Yachts less than 3,000GT) / Y2 and Y1: HELM(M)
  • Existing deck and engineering officers who simply revalidate their existing CoC do not have to undertake any additional training, even after 31 December 2016 ('Grandfather principle').

We have scheduled our courses so they fit the Yacht OOW and Master modules, as well as Yacht Engineering Y4 to Y2 modules. We have priced these courses very competitively to keep the costs down for you, the fees for HELM(O) is £375 and for HELM(M), £675.

For more information, read the full MIN 455 (M).

More information on the courses can be found here:
