Choose your engineering certificate:

Gain the internationally recognised skills and MCA qualifications necessary for a career as an engineering officer. We offer all of the courses needed to progress from assistant engineer to chief engineer on modern superyachts.

We have also approval from the UK’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) to offer all of the course modules and programmes required to obtain Unlimited Certificates of Competency (CoC).

Entry level

New engineering entrants wanting to work on yachts, workboats, fishing vessels, tugs, standby, seismic survey, oceanographic research vessels and government patrol vessels will need to complete the following course at an early stage of their career:

Small Vessel Second Engineer (formerly Y4) - Less than 200GT and less than 1,500kW)

Small Vessel Chief Engineer (formerly Y3) - Less than 500GT and less than 3,000kW)

Small Vessel Chief Engineer (formerly Y2/Y1) - Less than 3,000GT and less than 9,000kW)

Engineering help and advice

The engineering department is responsible for the yacht’s safety, performance and efficiency. It is their job to maintain the mechanical and electrical operations of the yacht, ensure robust maintenance schedules are implemented and troubleshoot problems efficiently.
