About this course

What is PRINCE2®?

PRINCE2® (PRojects IN a Controlled Environment) is a structured project management method covering the organisation, management and control of projects. It embodies established and proven best practice in project management and is the world’s most popular project management qualification, with one million exams taken globally up to September 2011. The PRINCE2® exam can be taken in 18 languages worldwide. It provides an easily-tailored and scalable method for the management of various types of projects. Used extensively by the UK Government, it is also widely used by private sector organisations worldwide. In June 2009, the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) officially launched a refreshed version of PRINCE2®.

Why is the University delivering PRINCE2®?

Solent University is committed to giving our students the best possible chance of career success. We are the first UK university to offer the Foundation qualification to students as part of selected undergraduate courses.

Foundation and Practitioner Course

Solent University provides two levels of PRINCE2® qualification:

The Foundation Level is the first qualification required to become a PRINCE2® practitioner. This level enables a candidate to act as an informed member of a project management team using the PRINCE2® method.

The closed-book foundation exam format involves an hour of multiple-choice questions.

The Practitioner Level follows on from the Foundation Level. The Practitioner Level enables candidates to apply PRINCE2® methods to the running and managing of a Project.

The Practitioner Exam is a open-book scenario-based examination lasting 2.5 hours.
