BSc (Hons) Maritime Management (Top-Up)

About this course

Designed specifically for qualified seafarers, Solent’s maritime management top-up degree focuses on key management and business skills as well as shore-side maritime industry practice. You’ll develop legal, financial and management knowledge within the field of the maritime industry, which will build on and complement your existing knowledge of the shipping industry.

Professional seafarers have a unique set of skills that are of great value to shipping companies. However, it is sometimes hard to make the transition from ship to shore as there can be a general lack of understanding and knowledge of business and management practice amongst professional seafarers. This one-year top-up degree aims to fill this gap and produce graduates who are highly employable for their knowledge of both shipping and the maritime business.

Staff who teach on the programme have a wide range of experience and knowledge. Students will benefit from the mixture of industry professionals and academics as well as from the international outlook of the team. To help develop a good understanding of the subject, staff place a strong focus on learning through application within the real world, demonstrating theory within practice.
